Claris, is a spirit of the winds, temperamental, powerful, and unpredictable, she truly personifies the intensity of the force that controls our weather, contrastingly she can be so soft caressing your cheek as she blissfully floats by, but by her nature that may not last long.
Born as many elementals are, she came into being during a time of need, the world was still, too still, the former air elemental had re-joined the essence from whence he came. the trees no longer swayed, their leaves drooping motionlessly, the sun scorched the earth where no rain fell, and the world flooded where the clouds hung lazily in the sky.
Initially the fire idols thought this a blessing their fires would no longer be drowned by the air spirits rains or winds, but they found themselves trapped without the fresh air to fan their flames, flickering stagnantly.
The water nymphs who though the air spirit aloof did not mourn his passing, till they too begun to feel their waters, rivers and lakes return to their hiding place underground taking them with it, as the surface became barren and listless.
The earth elders found themselves lonely as the animals and plants began to die suffocated when aridity set in.
All that was left was the subtle tide of the sea faithfully pulled back and forth by the moon.
That is until Claris came... suddenly a whirlwind kicked up, a cyclone so strong that much of the world was covered in its embrace, and at the centre of it all, a small child, scared and alone, throwing a tantrum.
It took all the elementals to soothe her, once calm she was cared for by the earth and water elementals who sought to bring life and movement back to the world and taught her of the balance that she must protect. Although the fire idols would be the last to admit their fondness for this young spirit, they too were pleased with the balance restored but chose to maintain at a cautious distance.
As she grew Claris ever the curious one was the first to approach mankind in their creation, as well as the first to see the danger they represented, balance is the very foundation of her being, whilst the humans represented chaos, keeping a watchful eye on the humans she enacts retribution when man takes too much from nature, by encouraging wildfires and breathing hurricanes and floods to life near human settlements, to remind humanity of the power of nature.
She is a tranquil gust of air barely disturbing the trees, whilst being the tempest that could bring our very existence to an end.
